Berlin has many museums, but the Pergamon is unique. Named for the massive marble Pergamon Altar, I wasn't prepared for how huge it really is. Where I was expecting something like a large church altar, this was actually the scale of a town square! It was 2 stories tall, pieced together out of many fragmented friezes that adorned it all over.

Note how small the people are next to this corner of the Altar	I know this pic is blurry, but you can still get a sense of the beauty and scale of this amazing exhibit.

 

The carving was detailed and beautiful and quite impressive. Here is a close up of one of the Pergamon Altar's many friezes.
