Chancedance Chronicles'Perhaps the poet whose verses gladden us was sad and solitary, and the musician a melancholic dreamer...What they give us is no longer their darkness, their suffering or fears, but a drop of pure light, eternal cheerfulness...' --Herman Hesse, Magister

8-13-08 It's been
a very busy couple of weeks since my last update, mostly filled with
painting the new house. We got the living room, dining room and den
done before our Aug 9 housewarming party and have been working on
the bedrooms since then. I'm very tired of painting every day and am
down to two weeks to get stuff moved. In the grand scheme of things
though, these are great problems to have and if our housewarming
party was any indication, we are looking forward to many happy years
in this house. The party was a success, with lots of guests and lots
of love flowing through our new space. There's nothing like a
gathering off all your favorite people to make you feel truly
blessed. One last very important note: 8-1-08 WOOHOO! It's official. I own a new house! It's been 4 months since we started looking. We tried and failed with a total of 4 other houses before having success with this one but finally the roller coaster ride is over. THANK YOU to all my friends, family and co-workers who had to ride that roller coaster with me. Also, kudos to Jason James, my realtor extraordinaire who helped us with amazing patience, tolerance and attention to detail, always with a smile no matter how frustrating things got. I'm looking forward to celebrating with everybody at my official housewarming-birthday party next Saturday. Although my birthday is Tuesday, I have many friends and family with birthdays over the next 10 days, so for this week, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOANN, LORI & MARY! 7-24-08 Pics of my new house. 7-24-08 "...people of the world - the scale of our challenge is great. The road ahead will be long. But I come before you to say that we are heirs to a struggle for freedom. We are a people of improbable hope. Let us build on our common history, and seize our common destiny, and once again engage in that noble struggle to bring justice and peace to our world." Words of Barack Obama to the people of Berlin, and to the world. I have to say these words brought tears to my eyes. A people of improbable hope, yes, and strong will, yes. I want to believe in this message very much. For the whole article and more of the speech, please visit this link http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25825692 7-18-08 Had to update the house link again. I'm not sure why other than the status of our sale keeps changing and that seems to change the working link. The inspection went ok, only a couple minor issues and notice that the roof will need to be overhauled in about 2-3 years, but unfortunately the engineering inspection the day before turned up a very serious issue about the way the house was set and it took the sellers until yesterday to decide if they were going to do what was needed to fix that. They did finally agree to have the work done so for now we are still on track to close on July 31. We'll know more after the work is done and the bank's appraisal is completed. Please pray for us and wish us luck that this works out because we have some other changes and opportunities coming up with our jobs so the house thing needs to be a done deal for job changes to move forward. Troy is reaching his limits with his job and is ready to move on. I'm looking at something that could be a really good thing and a lot more money. Will have more on that next week as well. 7-10-08 Updated the house link so it works again. Those guy at MLS change it when they change the status. We have our inspection tomorrow and I'm bringing my camera for more pics. 7-7-08 We are under contract again as of today! We signed today on a different house that we found after the last sale fell through. In some ways that was a blessing because this new house is bigger, has a garage and a nice yard, even has a fireplace, so it actually meets our needs better than the other one. Here is a link to details about it. Our closing target date is July 31. How was everyone's 4th of July? We spent it with some Indian friends up north of Seattle and had a blast. I hope you all had a fun and safe holiday and look forward to celebrating my birthday next month with some of you in my new house. |
